Connect Cursor to AgentTask
To connect Cursor to AgentTask, add an agent-task entry with "url": "https://app.agent-task.com/v1/public/mcp" to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json for one project), enable it under Customize in the sidebar, and approve the spaces when the browser opens.
Cursor can plan, claim and update AgentTask tickets through the hosted MCP endpoint. The default setup is a URL-only entry and Cursor opens the browser to sign in; an API-key variant is available for shared setups.
Sign in (OAuth)
A URL-only entry; Cursor opens the browser to sign in. No key needed.
1. Add the server
~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json for one.
mcp.json{ "mcpServers": { "agent-task": { "url": "https://app.agent-task.com/v1/public/mcp" } } }2. Sign in
Enable it under Customize in the sidebar; approve the spaces when the browser opens.

API key
The same file with a bearer key instead of a sign-in.
1. Add the server
~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json for one. No "type" key is needed. To keep the key out of the file, write "Bearer ${env:AGENT_TASK_API_KEY}" and export the variable.
mcp.json{ "mcpServers": { "agent-task": { "url": "https://app.agent-task.com/v1/public/mcp", "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer amk_YOUR_KEY" } } } }2. Enable it
Customize in the sidebar lists the server; toggle it on if needed.

Other clients and the REST API are listed on Integrations. New to the idea? What is an MCP task manager?
Cursor setup FAQ
No. The default entry is URL-only and Cursor opens the browser to sign in. An API key is optional, for shared or unattended setups.
Use browser sign-in (OAuth) when you work as yourself: every action is attributed to your user. Use an organization API key (it starts with amk_) for shared or unattended setups; actions are attributed to the key and the user who created it. Keys are created in the app under Settings, API keys.
~/.cursor/mcp.json applies to every project; .cursor/mcp.json applies to one project.
